XCell-Infinite

CUSTOM CELLS BUILT TO SPEC
Built around what you’re building. The custom cell in the range. For lines that fall outside a standard layout. Larger robots, on the floor or on a linear rail. Custom stations and positioner.

Cell configuration

Custom layout, built around your part and process
Custom stations, built to your part
Robot mounted on floor or linear rail, KR QUANTEC or KR FORTEC
Linear rail, custom length
Onboard spool configuration for tool heads

Part Size

Maximum part size depends on the robot arm length selected, and on the rail length when a linear rail is added. The configuration shown handles parts up to 7 x 2 m.

Layup table, custom-built, optional
Turntable, optional, rated for heavy moulds
Horizontal positioner: custom-built to your specs

Processes

Automated Fibre Placement, with XPlace mk3 and XPlace² (thermoset standard, thermoplastic optional)
Filament Winding, with X1Tow and X4Tow
Ultrasonic Cutting
3D Printing

Connectivity

Siemens PLC
PROFINET and EtherCAT (Beckhoff)

Optional features

Adding a horizontal positioner brings an external axis, synchronized with the robot's six axes, so AFP can preform parts of revolution and closed shapes. Length, mandrel diameter, and load are built to your specs. The positioner shown handles up to 4 m, Ø1 m, and 500 kg.

Adding a linear rail extends the robot's reach by up to 15 m.

Adding a turntable orients the mold, freeing up robot positions for complex 3D surfaces. The KUKA KP1 range is available from 500 kg to 4 t payload.

Switching the tool head to the X4Tow adds filament winding to the XCell-Infinite, with up to four onboard spools balancing part complexity and laying output. It runs on the horizontal positioner, chosen to suit your mandrel.

A Sonimat Soniblade-M ultrasonic cutter trims preforms. Blades from 8 to 15 mm cut uncured thermoset prepreg as well as thermoplastic preforms.

Swap the XPlace MK3 heat source for a hot air gun to process thermoplastics and dry stabilized tapes, up to 300°C.

Adding a heated plate gives you a heated surface, up to 130°C, in a custom size, which helps the first ply adhere to the preform. It sits on a base structure at ergonomic working height.

The Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) makes the robot fully multiprocess, automatically switching between tool heads for each task. Available processes: AFP, filament winding, and ultrasonic cutting.

Runs on the XLay suite

XLay runs every process on your XCell-Infinite: AFP, filament winding, tape winding, and ultrasonic cutting, from CAD design to machine code in one interface. A plug-in for Rhinoceros (v7 and v8), it covers layup, robot simulation, and machine code export, all in a single environment.
