Optional features

A range of horizontal positioners is available, depending on mandrel size, weight, and rotational speed: the positioner from the XCell, the KUKA KP1-V1000, or custom high-payload, high-speed positioners for filament winding.

Switching the tool head adds filament winding to the XCell-M. The KR QUANTEC robot takes the X1Tow or the X4Tow, while the KR IONTEC takes the X1Tow only. Robot motion is synchronized with the eyelet and the mandrel rotation. A horizontal positioner, chosen from the catalogue above, holds the mandrel.

A Sonimat Soniblade-M ultrasonic cutter trims preforms to net shape. Blades from 8 to 15 mm cut uncured thermoset prepreg as well as thermoplastic preforms.

Swap the XPlace MK3 heat source for a hot air gun to process thermoplastics and dry stabilized tapes, up to 300°C.

A 500 x 500 mm rectified aluminium plate, heated up to 130°C, on a base structure at ergonomic working height.

The Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) makes the robot fully multiprocess, automatically switching between tool heads for each task. Available processes: AFP, filament winding, and ultrasonic cutting.

For XCell-M configurations using the lightweight AFP head, with no onboard spool, the XCreel stores the spool and controls its tension. It is compatible with 3" cardboard core, BSH315 Hafner, and DIN250 spools. A small HMI on top controls both the XPlace MK3 head and the XCreel.

Runs on the XLay suite

XLay runs every process on your XCell-M: AFP, filament winding, tape winding, and ultrasonic cutting, from CAD design to machine code in one interface. A plug-in for Rhinoceros (v7 and v8), it covers layup, robot simulation, and machine code export, all in a single environment.
